Engaging the Older Generation in Philanthropy

Presented by: Annette Damey, AARP Annette Damey is a proud “Air Force brat”, who was born in Staten Island, New York. Graduating from St. John’s University with a degree in education, she taught school in Buffalo where she earned a Masters in Education. When her parents retired to Florida, Annette joined them and began a career in management where she also received an MBA from the University of Tampa. She worked for several large insurance companies and moved to Virginia for a promotion. But family is most important to her…after all she comes from an Italian family…so after her granddaughter was born, she and her husband moved back to Florida so they would not be long distance grandparents. She worked in the insurance industry again, then moved to an on-line education position. After she left the full time working world, she began volunteering with AARP as a Life Reimagined guide and continues to volunteer in other areas. She also is treasurer of her local AARP chapter, serves as Chair of the CARES board of directors, and works with Encore Tampa Bay and Seniors in Service, promoting the value and impact of those in their second half of life who want to make a difference. Annette lives in Land O Lakes with her husband, Michael, and two cats, Hector and Lucy. Registrations received after Friday, March 22, will be at a rate of $17 for members and $25 for non-members. First time attendees are complimentary.
